I was really wounded...more like sobbing at her answers.
The reason I do not typically date African American womyn is:
1. use of language or the lack there of (I am a stickler for the proper use of grammar and punctuation when speaking and writing.)
2. the brashness of their tone and body language.
3. their dress is too flamboyant for me. I prefer womyn in a more conservative, less revealing attire.
4. I am very cerebral and very much enjoy speaking at length on many varied topics from world history to animal rights to emotions to science, etc. and find that in African American culture these topics are not explored.
5. I was raised in an environment of fine dining, theater and opera, and find that these activities are not enjoyable to many in our culture, not just AA womyn,
6. I am spiritual and find that the AA community is very Bible based and religious and that does not compute in my world.
7. the AA community is very homophobic and I am very out and proud and have been since I was born.
8. I love diversity and find that the AA community 'stick' with their own kind and that is something I am totally against. My friends are from all walks of life and I prefer it this way.
Before I get branded a racist, I will add that I am of mixed race and ethnicity (African American, French, German, and American Indian.)
I will also state that I know that many of the above mentioned reasons are more culture than race.
I have dated AA womyn in my recent pass and that is because she and I came from the same culture and background. I would not rule out dating an AA womyn or any womyn of race nor ethnicity, if we have things to talk about. As I stated, I prefer communication and welcome it from anyone.

Re: This is a response to the question "Why do most women on CL do not date Black Women???"
Wed, August 22, 2007 - 12:55 PMWho gives a flying fig on a hot buttered roll about what this woman thinks!! In my opinion she is steeped in internalized racism and white supremacy.
OR
she's a troll looking for some attention, which is what is seems more like.
Whatever.

Re: This is a response to the question "Why do most women on CL do not date Black Women???"
Wed, August 22, 2007 - 1:06 PMI love these two statements:
<< Before I get branded a racist, I will add that I am of mixed race and ethnicity (African American, French, German, and American Indian.) >>
So, does the fact that a person is mixed race mean they're immune from racism? I don't think so.
<< I will also state that I know that many of the above mentioned reasons are more culture than race. >>
And yet, she's listing these 'cultural' qualifications that she has and saying that they don't exist among African Americans. Sounds like a pretty racist assumption to me.

Re: This is a response to the question "Why do most women on CL do not date Black Women???"
Thu, August 23, 2007 - 2:05 PMReading craigslist women for women for anything other than getting laid or a date to something specific is really bad for anyone's health. Sometimes dudes hang out in their frathouses or suburban apartments and write posts there to get the ladies all in a lather. I overheard some guys in a restaurant in Millbrae talking about it. It's an alien world to them and they like to learn enough to push the dykes hotbuttons.
There are really nice women on CL, I had a lonely birthday that was made alot nicer by having CL w4w, but if you start reading the dialogues there it will hurt your feelings, no matter who you are. Most everything is fair game and some people just write shit to be shit disturbers. Every kind of racist, judgemental, classist, sexist, mysogynist remark possible has been made on there in just the four years I've lived her, I'd bet.
She actually sounds way more classist and she is associating African American with poverty. What she wants is someone who has the same economic upbringing as her. If they are the same class and "speak the same language" she will date them no matter their skin color, but she needs to see herself above some group of people so she equates African American with poor and loose and nasty. As so many people unjustifiably do.

Re: This is a response to the question "Why do most women on CL do not date Black Women???"
Mon, August 27, 2007 - 1:44 PMurrgh... It's really funny that this WOMAN... preferred to call herself a Womyn... which is just as bad as boi... i dont care about the femenist implications. She's speaking no different than a gay white male and in her response she is implying white superiority and painting african americans as ....dumb. Mostly unable to carry on intellectual conversations in general... not cultural.... basically not white.
Her response is obviously no different than white men (or even other men of color) who will assume that african americans are dumb...can not emote...don't read..write...express...question the matter of the world and ect. Oh well... her loss as she has displayed her hypocrasy and inner loathing/outter arrogance by generalizing a race, she claims to be a part of and has dated (Thus giving herself a truth card), with thinly vieled negative stereotypes while stating why a black woman would not be good enough for her because of intellectual pursuits and yadda... but she says she is part african american... so is she stating she is better.
It's quite painful to be seen as automatically dumb...unintelliegent... or even be seen as "intelligent for your race"... better than the batch you came from...and sends an awkward, destructive message.
I would venture to say the woman behind the craigslist response comes from a place where she to was placed on a pedestal, for lack of a better phrase, for being "smart" or not "Like them" ...... I wish someone would remember where these stereotypes came from and remember whites held education from blacks for hundreds of YEARS! and still in places in the nation continue to...and also toss back at them through the hands of the media what undereducation resulted in ( slang... "Foxxy" from Drawn Together.. Ying Yang twins..K-Fed!!) as hip and revolutionary...but as a boutique. My great grandfather never fully learned to read...didnt begin until he was in his late40's.\
Im ranting....
Dykes are THAT racist? I thought they were............. more.... inclusive.... at least that what major gay history institutions would like for me to believe. -

Re: This is a response to the question "Why do most women on CL do not date Black Women???"
Wed, August 29, 2007 - 5:57 PMIt seems that the critiques she's raising are generally more a function of class than race. Language, tone & body language, bible based religion, etc... are not limited to people of any single color. Furthermore, I'm sure there are people of working and lower socio-economic classes that "very much enjoy speaking at length on many varied topics from world history to animal rights to emotions to science, etc." I see many AA people at the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and at the various college campuses around Metro Detroit.
It seems that she's falling into the trap of believing that being black means having living that stereotype from Good Times or "Cribs" on MTV. -

Re: This is a response to the question "Why do most women on CL do not date Black Women???"
Sat, September 15, 2007 - 6:12 AMI don't know you DommeFemme, and I can't imagine how it would feel to know some people rule me out purely because of my race or ethnicity and the steretypes they associate with it. What I do know is that so many of us feel completely the opposite. That if we make generalizations about the culture of Black women, they tend to be along the line of "beautiful, direct, true to word, sensitive, quirky, diverse, and complex". And that there are many of us who know that any Black woman (or any person, for that matter) is a complete world beyond any generalization, good or bad, that one might make. -
